Understanding COVID-19 infection in pregnant women and their babies

This study of pregnant women with confirmed COVID-19 infection in England aims to answer important questions about the impact of COVID-19 on pregnant women and their infants, and to better understand the risk and routes of transmission from mother to baby.

Primary objective:  To assess the risk of COVID-19 infection in newborn infants born to pregnant women with confirmed COVID-19 infection and determine possible routes of mother-to-child transmission

Type of study: Observational

Countries: United Kingdom

Sample size: As many pregnant women in England over 12 months as possible

Study participants: Confirmed COVID-19 infection in pregnant women ≥ 24 weeks gestation
