Social Science & Vaccines Webinar Series: Webinar #3

The race to bring the COVID-19 pandemic under control through vaccination has intensified, with glaring disparities in vaccine access between high- and low-income nations and within countries. While vaccines have been framed as a panacea, vaccine rollout has in some contexts been hindered by low community confidence in vaccines or institutions promoting vaccines. This raises broader issues of (mis)trust in vaccine deployment, which social scientists have long been investigating.

This third webinar in a series on vaccines by the coalition’s Social Science Working Group will hear from experts who will draw on research on vaccines and deployment during COVID-19 pandemic and past epidemics. They will discuss issues related to political economy, experiences of vulnerability and marginality, and social justice and equity, with lessons learned for building trust to improve COVID-19 vaccination uptake.
