Unblocking Barriers to Pandemic Research: Data Sharing in Low- and Middle-Income Countries

COVID CIRCLE, COVID-19 Clinical Research Coalition

As part of a series of webinars looking at unblocking barriers in relation to pandemic-related research in low- and middle-income country settings, the COVID CIRCLE Researcher Community (CCRC) and the COVID-19 Clinical Research Coalition will be hosting a joint webinar on solutions to data sharing, barriers, and challenges.

Both organisations have worked extensively in this area, with the COVID CIRCLE team having identified open science and data sharing as a key principle for funders to support high-quality research for the most pressing global needs in epidemics and pandemics, and the Coalition having data sharing as one of the four principles that members commit to when joining. Furthermore, the COVID-19 Clinical Research Coalition has a dedicated expert working group on data sharing that seeks to promote best practice, synthesise existing policies and guidance, and provide practical advice to researchers and data management teams.

This webinar is an opportunity for the respective communities of researchers to come together and share their research findings and experiences in overcoming barriers to data sharing in low-resource settings, and provides a space for networking and mutual learning.

The 2-hour time slot covers 1 hour 30 mins for the talk and researcher presentations and a 30-minute optional networking session at the end.

More information will follow on the programme as soon as all speakers have been confirmed.
